Student Accommodations: Hostel Administration & Housekeeping

With the ongoing works on administrative and the daily upkeep of the student accommodations at both Eagle and Selesa Residencies, the Editorial team has met up with a group of newly hired hostel administrative and housekeeping personnel to further understand their roles in ensuring effective and proactive management of the student accommodations.

What does a hostel administrative personnel do?

  • Conduct check-in and checkout procedures
  • Provide local and regional information
  • Respond to emails and/or enquiries
  • Assist with transportation requests
  • Record and respond to guest concerns
  • Maintain accurate reservation information
  • Update bed allocation information

What does a housekeeping supervisory personnel do?

  • Responsible for day-to-day housekeeping operations
  • Ensure quality standards for cleanliness
  • Lead, supervise, train and retrain staff to prescribed hostel standards
  • Organize and implement a rotating schedule for deep cleaning of each area of the hostel
  • Supervise the day-to-day cleaning of public areas, room corridors, staircase, lift landings and reception lobby
  • Assign duties and coordinate breaks for assigned staff
  • Efficiently manage stock control and the maintenance of all equipment
Nonetheless, we do observe the importance of customer relations whether they are at the frontline or in the operations as every single little task that they do translates to customer satisfaction. As the new team members are now presently on board, the appropriate assimilation process into the customer-centric environment is equally essential to groom the team further into embodying true hospitality that serves from the heart.
